Welcome to Island Volleyball Club's web site. Island Volleyball Club offers east bay juniors in and around Alameda convenient and reasonably priced volleyball teams, clinics, camps, and other activities. Founded by longtime player and coach, Jeff Silverman, the club provides first class training, and more importantly lots of fun for interested players. You will find our philosophy to be different than most clubs. We hope it is to your liking as we choose to perpetuate innovative approaches to competition, coaching, and winning, and emphasize positive rather than negative reinforcement to get the most out of our athletes.
BOYs TryOuts WednEsday, AUGUST 29, 2012 (tentative)
Boys club season begins with try outs in August, nonleague tournaments
in the first half of September, and a season that runs from late September through early January. Island
Volleyball Club is looking for enthusiastic boys between the ages of 14
- 18
to try out for Island club teams. An initial
tryout will
tentatively be held Wednesday, August 29, 2012 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., and a follow up try
outs will be scheduled for soon thereafter. The AHS main gym is having work done on it this summer, so the tryout date and time is subject to change. Please check back here in the days leading up to the tryout(s) to get the up-to-date information (based on possible construction delays). All tryouts will be held at Alameda High School. The AHS gym is accessed on Oak Street halfway between Encinal Avenue and Central Avenue, one block west of and parallel to Park Street. Please plan on arriving up to half an hour before
the start of the tryout so both parent and player can sign the necessary
paperwork prior to stepping on the court, and players be sure to come prepared to play.
Island club teams will practice twice a week in Alameda and/or
Oakland, and play in 7 - 8 weekend (all day Saturday and/or Sunday) tournaments
from September through early January, finishing with the Northern California Regional Championsips and likely the Far Western Championships.
The cost to play on the team is roughly $750 plus player registration fees (paid directly by each participant online) and financial assistance is available
based on need. Check back prior to tryouts for the final fee amount as we are still awaiting our cost for gym rental. Click

The boys
junior national tournament will be held this year in late-June/early-July in Reno, Nevada. Should Island Volleyball Club field teams for tournaments beyond the Far Western Championships in January, there will be addiitional costs. Of course only players who wish to continue playing until the national championships will incur costs, and the team(s) going to nationals will pick up additional players as necessary.

While we try to keep our club volleyball fees as reasonable as we can, we know some families find it difficult to afford. We want everyone who wants to play to be able to play. That's why we organize some great fund raising activities. Please check back for updated information on upcoming fund raising events.
